Why use gas...when we have air!

So we all know that gas prices are getting out of control and probably will only get worst. We want to learn to do better by our environment, right?  But some of us make long commutes and can't see changing over to an only bike lifestyle, so what are we to do?

Well, we need to hop on the Indian bandwagon...or shall I say air-wagon? India is set to release a new car that runs off of---AIR! Yes, air. India's largest auto maker, Tata Motors, have contured up a air-powered car! It may not be the most aesthetically pleasing car but for $2 to "refuel" every 300km (about 186 miles)...I"ll roll in it!  (Oh and here's another cool new car---the Air-pod.I want one!!!)

Air_powered_tata_car

Check out their press-release:

Tata Motors is ready to introduce Air Car - Will it be the next big thing? Tata Motors is taking giant strides and making history for itself. First the Land Rover/Jaguar deal, then the world's cheapest car, and now it is also set to introdhe car that runs on compressed air.

With spiralling fuel prices it is about time we heard some breakthrough!

India's largest automaker, Tata Motors, is set to start producing the world's first commercial air-powered vehicle.

The Air Car, developed by ex-Formula One engineer Guy NAgre for Luxembourg-based MDI, uses compressed air, as opposed to the gas-and-oxygen explosions of internal-combustion models, to push its engine's pistons. Some 6000 zero-emissions Air Cars are scheduled to hit Indian streets by August 2011.

The Air Car, called the "MiniCAT" could cost around Rs. 3,475,225 ($8,177.00 USD) in India and would have a range of around 300 km between refuels.

The cost of a refill would be about Rs. 85 ($2.00 USD)

The MiniCAT which is a simple, light urban car, with a tubular chassis that is glued, not welded, and a body of fiberglass powered by compressed air. Microcontrollers are used in every device in the car, so one tiny radio transmitter sends instructions to the lights, indicators, etc.

There are no keys - just an access card which can be read by the car from your pocket. According to the designers, it costs less than 50 rupees per 100 Km (about a tenth that of a petrol car). Its mileage is about double that of the most advanced electric car (200 to 300 km or 10 hours of driving), a factor which makes a perfect choice in cities where 80% of motorists drive at less than 60 Km. The car has a top speed of 105 Kmph (about 65mph).

Refilling the car will, once the market develops, take place at adapted petrol stations to administer compressed air. In two or three minutes, and at a cost of approximately 100 rupees, the car will be ready to go another 200-300 kilometers.

As a viable alternative, the car carries a small compressor which can be connected to the mains (220V or 380V) and refill the tank in 3-4 hours. Due to the absence of combustion and, consequently, of residues, changing the oil (1 litre of vegetable oil) is necessary only every 50,000 Km).

The temperature of the clean air expelled by the exhaust pipe is between 0-15 degrees below zero, which makes it suitable for use by the internal air conditioning system with no need for gases or loss of power.

Last night the Swipes Lovin- Team came across this little hooter in the streets! The little baby owl was hurt and couldn't fly. Tiny little thing, only about 4 or 5 inches Tall! But no need to worry, the baby owl was safely returned to animal rescue this morning.

It's hump day...take that literally.

Being Sexy and Green is sometimes a hard feat, but they both should be incorporated into your daily life.  Some may think it’s easier to be green than to be sexy! Psh posh…follow our tips and you can balance both!

In the spirit of Hump day maybe tonight take it literally! You work hard, you deserve it!

Hump_day

Here are 6 sexy tips to bring Sexy back into your life!(source:sheknows.com)

  1. Reclaim your sex life with a sexy goal. Extend foreplay, try a minimum of three new sex positions a month, try a new location—whatever! But having a goal can app up your sexual appetite. And rekindle those flames between you and your partner.
  2. De-clutter your bedroom. It’s hard to feel sexy in a dirty/cluttered room. So tidy up and put your stuff away. Create a sexier vibe with high-quality sheets and maybe incorporate candles in your decor that way they are already for whenever your ready to set the mood!
  3. Good Morning!-Nothing starts your day off better than getting some in the AM! But the end of the day you’re more likely to be exhausted so the first thing to go is sex. But set your alarm a little earlier and do it then or maybe come home for lunch. Anytime is a good time.
  4. Wear something cute to bed—we’re all guilty of it—-you know, when we become comfortbale and start wearing the baggy t-shirts, sweats, or socks to bed. There is nothing wrong with that but from time to time switch up the routine. When you feel sexy you’re more likely to get in the mood and your partner will be too!
  5. Leave the bedroom!- I know I told you to de-clutter your room, which is important but you also want to get out sometimes. Trying new spots (i.e table, chairs, counters, couches etc)…will create excitement, maybe make you feel a little naughty which is great for arousal! Who knows, maybe you’ll find an even better spot!
  6. Never forget to use your Swipes Lovin Wipes!!!! Freshening up before and cleaning up after intimate moments is always important! It’s the easiest way to stay sexy and green!

Happy “Hump” Day everyone!

Peace, Lovin, Swipes!

Summertime and "Green" living is easy!

Summertime1

It's summertime folks, longer days, backyard BBQ's, swimming pools, and of course warmer weather! So what can we do this summer to stay Sexy,Green, and Cool (literally and figuratively)? Well for starters you want to put on those green sunglasses and do your part to save the earth and even your wallet!

Here are a few easy tips that will keep you cool and calm:

  • Don't touch the thermostat! 78 to 76 will keep your place nice and cool! Or you can use a fan. And if it's still too warm just wear less clothes! ;-)
  • Find local activities to keep you entertained! By going local, you can walk, bike, or take public transportation. It will reduce your carbon footprint, keep you in shape, and save you some green! Gas is ridiculous!
  • Summer threads: Choose Organic Cotton, hemp, and bamboo..they are light fabrics that will keep your temperature low! But even better than buying new clothes would be to buy reused clothes at your local thrift stores or even Plato's Closet! There is no better way being sustainable that reusing what's already here! Plus you won't pay those retail prices!!!
  • BBQing? Well think about how chemically toxic that could be...if you're using a charcoal grill think natural charcoal and wood briquettes like Cowboy Charcoal or Green Hearts Natural Charcoal. Also when it's time to clean the grill use natural cleaning products such as SoyClean organic grill cleaner. We're working on a chemical-free summer!
  • Use Compostable or bioplastic plates, cups, and utensils! Trellis Earth has a wide selection of bioplastics derived from renewable raw resources making their products 100% biodegradable. Even better..they can be used more than once and they're microwavable!
  • Buy produce and meat from local farmers markets, this helps your local economy flourish and cuts down on the amount of fossil fuels it takes to do large supermarket deliveries. Not to harp on this too many times..but you'll save money! Are you noticing a trend???
  • And one thing about summer that can never be avoided are the BUGS! Mosquitoes eat you alive (I have 10 bites to prove it!)..so what can we do as savvy eco consumers, think of a natural way to repel these bugs without harming ourself with DEET (which is in OFF!). Find mosquitoe repellent plants like lemon balm, basil, citronella, and marigolds. Also invest in a natural DEET-free repellent like All Terrain Insect Repellent.
  • Drink plenty of fluids this summer! But don't use plastic bottles(come on we are so passed that phase!)...use your reusable bottles. You take them everywhere and use them over and over and over again!
  • Last but never least...always remember to use your Swipes Lovin Wipes! They will keep cool and fresh in life's hottest situations ;-)

Of course there are plenty of more tips to help you "Go Green" this summer. Follow us and we'll help you make a Sexy and Green transition!

Until next time...Peace, Lovin, Swipes!

Stonewall Parade

Yesterday our Company participated in the Stonewall Festival & Parade in the Wilton Manor Community of Fort Lauderdale! It was so much fun! We partook in the Touch of Paradise Event's "Marriage Equality" float as flower girls and ring bearers.

It was great to hear Debbie Wasserman Schultz speaking about human rights, specifically gay rights in marriage. She was absolutely inspiring! The Grand Marshal of the Parade was Thomas Roberts of MSNBC, who came out professionally as gay in September 2006 at the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association convention in Miami Beach.

I don't know if you know this but the Stonewall Inn (A NYC a gay bar) police raid in June1969 sparked the Modern Gay movement. Which is why this particular parade was so important!

The crowd chanted, "Swipes, Swipes, Swipes..." as we walked along the float throwing out Swipes Lovin Wipes to all. We couldn't help but think "wow we are spreading the 'Lovin'..(literally and figuratively speaking!)". We had a great time and we are thankful they allowed us to be apart of the festivities!

Can't wait for the next one!

Until next time... Peace, Lovin, and Swipes!

Sneakakiss

Today is "Sneak a Kiss" day. Maybe you're in a relationship, maybe you're not! Either way, it's the perfect opportunity to kiss that special someone or kiss someone by surprise and have an excuse!
